I create because I want to. Because I need to. Because I have to. I am compelled to do so. It makes me whole and it is who I am. If I am not creating I feel dull and lifeless. Creating art gives me life. It is a love so deep it astounds me. It is inside my core, inside my being. It gives me oxygen. It gives me air. It is my freedom. Art is my soul's story. It is my essence...
The process is experimental and improvisational. With little planning or foresight I create with basic elements. Canvas. Brush. Palette Knife. Paint. At first the creation is indeterminate, unassuming, and whatever goes. The manipulation of paints and materials start to form the beginning of a story. Then reflection. Then a plan. A growth of intentions blossom. The paint and canvas tell me where to go. A story develops and a painting is born. The story is alive and wants to be told. The fine details are implemented until the work is done. The work of discovering the life that it will become...
Linda J Libertucci
I have been painting and drawing since 2001. About 6 years ago I decided it was time to show my artwork to the world and share my imagination and gifts.
In 1997 I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance & Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond VA. Art has always been a part of me and I believe I was born to discover myself through many creative endeavors. I've always allowed music, dance, painting, theater, photography, and culinary arts to be a large part of my life. Through art I learn new things about myself and the world. It allows me to be connected with the earth and the discovery of all its wonders.
My art is inspired by many things. Some include architecture and design, the universe and nature, biology and the spiritual world, and many of my own life experiences. My inspiration can come from grand things or blossom from simple things like a rainy day, a feeling or an emotion, music or a particular song, or even a certain scent.
I consider myself an experimental artist and believe in a free flow creative process. My methods are full of whimsy and improvisation. Using raw materials, an open mind, and the need to create, my ideas and my work are a result of unbound love, passion, and endless possibilities.
